CES 2024 has arrived. So it’s time again for The Barbell‘s best of high-tech fitness. Like last year, there are no breakthrough products at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in our wheelhouse of weight-training, but there are some incredible innovations in the wider world of working out and workout recovery. It’s time to geek out. This is The Barbell’s top four products in new fitness tech at CES 2024.

LB Trainer / InBody

The big data training and nutrition revolution is here. InBody’s LB Trainer is an app and database for personal trainers that simplifies complex tasks, automates time-consuming jobs, and provides a clear vision for training and nutrition. Evaluating exercise posture can be complicated, but it’s simple with LB Trainer’s filming and deep learning. Determining the nutritional stats of a meal can be time-consuming, but with LB Trainer it’s nearly instantaneous. AI predicts body composition changes via a unique body composition dataset of over 100 million global InBody tests (and counting). The app features deep learning tools for trainers to help guide proper exercising and nutrition. InBody’s LB Trainer was an Innovation Award honoree at CES 2024.

You’re your own power plant with WE-STIM. / Barunbio, Inc.

Barunbio Inc.’s WE-STIM (Wearable Electric Stimulation) leggings also won an Innovation Award this year, and talk about innovative! Have you ever thought of generating your own renewable energy via your body to help fuel your body’s recovery? No, we hadn’t either. The WE-STIM leggings harvest natural electric energy generated from body movement, such as running. This energy is then delivered to specific targets on the body using special conductive fibers designed inside the clothing, and this, in turn, rejuvenates muscles in an eco-friendly way without any batteries or wires. The claim is the WE-STIM technology boosts athletic performance, aids in muscle recovery, and minimizes fatigue. The future is here.

Rexet mattress topper / Rezet

Smart beds have been around for years. One designed for workout recovery made our CES best-of list last year. But a smart bed is a big expense and commitment, and you can’t take it with you when you travel. Meet Rezet. It’s the first-ever, intelligent, recovery, portable mattress topper. It includes precise postural support via eight internal chambers that automatically adjust to support your ideal spinal alignment throughout the night, smart temperature regulation to maintain your ideal sleep environment, lumbar massage to soothe your back, and a dedicated app that accesses your sleep quality with actionable insights. Rezet uses millions of hours of sleep data (and counting) to provide you the ideal nights of slumber, crucial for overall health and workout recovery. Oh, and it’s a “smart bed” you can take anywhere. The Rezet mattress topper was another CES Innovation Award honoree.

Garmin Venu CES 2024
Venu 3 / Garmin

Finally, we turn to not just another Innovation Award honoree, but the winner of the CES 2024 “Best Of” award in the “Sports & Fitness” category: the Garmin Venu 3 GPS smartwatch. It’s like an on-wrist coach. The Venu 3 offers extensive personalized workout and wellness insights, including a “body battery” that monitors your energy levels and a sleep coach that tracks your slumber. It features a colorful AMOLED display, more than 30 built-in sports apps, and up to 14 days of battery life. With features like a heartbeat monitor, Venu 3 can help users get a more complete picture of their health. Plus, wearers can stay connected at home or on the go with a built-in speaker and microphone to make or take calls or respond to text messages hands-free. The Veru 3 retails for $450.
