No longer just a shock jock, Howard Stern is now equally known for his penetrating interviews. “The Howard Stern Show” recently camped out in the new SiriusXM Los Angeles studios, and Arnold Schwarzenegger stopped by to welcome the host to L.A. During the half-hour interview, with Jimmy Kimmel also on the guest couch, the former California governor said a few things that piqued our interest.

1. FRANCO COLUMBU DIED OF A HEART ATTACK.

Most sites reported that Franco Columbu drowned. But Arnold confirmed the cause of Franco Columbu’s death when he told Howard how he learned the tragic news regarding his best friend: “I got the message from his wife that he passed away on a beach in Sardinia. He donated bells for the local church. So, they had a big celebration with the mayor, and then two days later he was walking on the beach and, all of a sudden, he fell over. He had a heart attack.”

2. ARNOLD STILL TRAINS DAILY IN GOLD’S GYM.

Fifty years after Arnold Schwarzenegger made the original Gold’s Gym in Venice his workplace, the 72-year-old toils in the mecca early every day. “I get up every morning at 5:30, 6:00, I get on the bicycle and ride down to Gold’s Gym. I work out for 45 minutes with the weights. Then I ride back and have breakfast. It doesn’t make any difference how old I am. I will be doing this until I’m in the grave.”

Howard asked Arnold about the state of bodybuilding. “You don’t hear that much about it, because there’s really no personality out there who is really running with it,” Arnold answered, “which in my day was a little different, because we had a few guys like myself who were able to really explode the whole sport. But it was very new. I think bodybuilding today is much bigger than in my day. I got $1000 cash prize when I won the Mr. Olympia. I used to have to do bricklaying jobs in Santa Monica with Franco Columbu.”

4. SCHWARZENEGGER IS A WEEKDAY VEGAN.

Howard Stern said, “You were known for eating tons of meat, because you were bodybuilding.” Arnold replied, “Tons of meat and also eating a lot of eggs, and just too much of everything, but then when you get older you find out that maybe that’s not so good for you. When you’re young, you can get away with everything, but when you get older you should cut back on the meat. I’m not a 100% vegan, like some people write. But I’m 70-80% vegan, which means that throughout the week I will eat no meat. Maybe on the weekend, I’ll have some Wiener schnitzel or some steak. I still have some, but not as much as I used to.”

5. ARNOLD IS REALLY PISSED ABOUT SOMETHING.

“I’m not afraid of death, but I’m just pissed off about it, especially when you have a life like we [Howard, Jimmy Kimmel, and him] have, and then one day it’s over. That really pisses me off.…I’m so angry about it. I’m furious about it.”
